Application Procedure

  • Pilot Core will fund up to five pilot projects per year, providing financial support to defray the costs of supplies and/or personnel for projects that use the cores.
  • Potential projects will be selected by the core directors for consideration of COBRE funding from among the many projects using Quantitative Analysis and/or Genomics Core services.
  • Successful proposals will receive funding at an amount agreed upon between the investigator and the Core directors pending approval by IAC/EAC. Applications for competitive renewals will not be considered.
  • Who is eligible to apply:
    • Junior Investigators who have an independent research group, but have not received previous NIH R01 or equivalent funding
    • Established investigators (primarily former COBRE graduates) who have shifted their research group towards a completely new scientific direction
  • Applications requirements include:
    1. A 1-page project narrative organized as a scientific abstract that explains the background, proposed methods, expected results, and how this funding will impact the investigators scientific progress.
    2. NIH biosketch and other support
    3. NIH-style budget and justification
    4. IRB approval or pending application and NIH-style statement of use of human subjects in research
    5. Letters of support or collaboration if needed
